A beneficiary is the person (or people) that will receive the death benefit in the event of the insured's death. You can have up to 8 primary beneficiaries and 2 secondary (contingent) beneficiaries. The secondary beneficiaries are given the payment if none of the primary beneficiaries are alive at the time of the claim. Currently, beneficiary(s) must be family, spouse, domestic partner, or child.
